Luke McCormick returns to Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle have announced the return of goalkeeper Luke McCormick on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old played for the club between 2001 and 2008 showing great potential; but his contract ended when he was found guilty and jailed for causing the death of two children by dangerous driving.

Argyle owner James Brent told the club's website: "Although Luke made a dreadful mistake with unthinkable consequences, he has served his time and is totally remorseful.

"While I respect others who have alternative views, from a moral standpoint, the Board and I think Luke is entitled to rehabilitation.

"John Sheridan wanted to sign him and the club is totally supportive of that."

McCormick played non-league football for Truro City following his release from prison last year before moving to Oxford United.

It is understood that McCormick will donate a sum of money and his time to support a local children's charity, as part of his Argyle deal.
