Devils make it 5 consecutive home wins
Plymouth climbed above Peterborough to tenth place in the Premier League table following their 52-38 win over the Panthers at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening, writes Graham Hambly.
It was a fifth successive home win for the Skills Group Devils, who are now eight points adrift of a top six play-off position with seven matches – and a possible 24 points – remaining.
Team manager Lee Trigger said: “It was another good all-round team performance. We made a good start to take an early advantage and it was pleasing that we had the three match points wrapped up by heat 14.
“It meant that, for a change, it was nice to be able to relax in the final heat.
“Despite our 14-point win, there were plenty of exciting races with Peterborough keeping us honest.”
Plymouth provided ten of the 15 race winners and there were double figure scores for Ben Barker, Kyle Newman and reserve Sam Simota.
Peterborough relied heavily on reserve Nicki Barrett, who top scored with 12 (paid 13) from his seven starts.
Plymouth: Ben Barker 11+3 (5 rides), Kyle Newman 10 (5), James Wright 5 (4), Rasmus Jensen 4 (4), Josef Franc 6+1 (4). Reserves: Roland 5 (3), Sam Simota 11+1 (5).
Peterborough: Rider replacement for Lasse Bjerre, Adam Roynon 2+1 (4), Steve Boxall 8+1 (5), Ulrich Ostergaard 11 (6), Ales Dryml 5 (5). Reserves: Max Dilger 0 (3), Nicki Barrett 12+1 (7).
