Plymouth suffered a mid-match slump that proved costly as they lost 51-42 in their Premier League match at Workington on Saturday evening.

The Skills Group Devils were only two points in arrears after seven heats but were then hit by three successive 5-1 heat wins for the home side.

Skipper Ben Barker promptly beat Ricky Wells on a tactical ride in heat 11 with Sam Simota holding third place from Simon Lambert to pull back five points in a 7-2 heat advantage.

But the final four races were drawn as Workington held on to their nine-point lead.  Barker had one other race win in his 15-point return and was well supported by Max Fricke, guesting for the unwell Rasmus Jensen, who had a couple of wins in his ten (paid 13) points.

Kyle Newman and Sam Simota made useful contributions with eight points each but Kalle Katajisto and Roland Benko managed only one point between them from a total of eight races.
The Devils complete their hectic programme of three meetings in as many days with a match at Glasgow on Sunday afternoon (3pm).

Workington: Josh Grajczonek 14 (5 rides), rider replacement for Kyle Howarth, Rene Bach 12+1 (6), Mason Campton 9+2 (5), Ricky Wells 5 (4). Reserves: Lewis Rose 1 (3), Simon Lambert 10+4 (7).

Plymouth: Ben Barker 15 (5), rider replacement for Adam Roynon, Kalle Katajisto 1+1 (5), Kyle Newman 8 (5), Max Fricke 10+3 (6). Reserves: Roland Benko 0 (3), Sam Simota 8 (6).
