Devils face Glasgow at the St Boniface Arena
Plymouth will have two new signings making their home debuts in the Premier League match against Glasgow at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening (7.15pm), writes Graham Hambly.
James Wright, who rode for Glasgow last season, comes into the Skills Group Devils side against his old club after being signed in place of Adam Roynon.
There will also be a first home appearance for Josef Franc, who has taken over from Kalle Katajisto.
The re-declared Plymouth side will also have James Shanes coming in at reserve in place of Roland Benko.
Co-promoter Ashley Taylor says: "We have been lacking firepower in the middle order of the team and we have taken steps to rectify that situation by bringing in James Wright and Josef Franc.
"James Shanes rode for the Devils earlier in the season, but the home supporters will be seeing two new riders in the team against Glasgow.
"We have a responsibility to finish as high as possible in the league in addition to having our sights on the Knock-Out Cup."
Plymouth meet Ipswich in the cup semi-finals, with those fixtures expected to take place towards the end of September.
Wright, who was 28 last month, won the Conference League Riders’ Championship while riding for Buxton in 2004 and progressed to take the Premier League Riders’ title in 2007 when he was riding for
Workington. He has also ridden for Belle Vue, Swindon, Birmingham and Somerset before joining Glasgow last season.
Leading the Glasgow side at number one is former German champion Kevin Wolbert while skipper Theo Pijper was a member of the Dutch team that won the World Longtrack team title last year.
Providing strength in the middle order are a couple of experienced Australians in Christian Henry and Rusty Harrison while the top five is completed by 20-year-old Dane Anders Thomsen.
Another young Dane, Kasper Lykke, fills one of the reserve positions while Glasgow will have Nicki Barrett from Peterborough as a guest replacement injured for Frenchman Dimitri Berge.
