Plymouth's latest signing Adam Roynon faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a back injury in a crash at Rye House on Sunday.

The Skills Group Devils will use the rider replacement facility to cover his absence in tonight’s (Friday) Premier League match against Berwick at the St Boniface Arena (7.15pm).

Co-promoter Ashley Taylor says: "Adam suffered a nasty-looking accident at Rye House and it was surprise that he was able to walk away from it and even take his next ride.

"But he has been to hospital this week and learned that he has injured his vertebra, which means he is not able to ride at the moment and we will use rider replacement against Berwick."

Roynon is second in the team’s averages so all the remainder of the side will be eligible to take his rides.

The injury to the 25-year-old rider came in only his fourth meeting since joining Plymouth from Sheffield.

It is the latest in a series of set backs which included missing the whole of the 2009 season with life-threatening injuries following a crash in a pre-season practice at King’s Lynn.

Since then he has had a broken femur in 2011 and a broken leg in 2012 before suffering a nasty head injury at the beginning of last season, which then ended prematurely with a broken collarbone.
