Argyle secure transfer deadline day deal for Hamza Bencherif

Plymouth Argyle have announced the signing of Algerian under-20 international midfielder Hamza Bencherif on transfer deadline day (Monday 2 September).

The 25-year-old provides a further option for John Sheridan as he completes his squad for the season.

After a successful trial at Home Park, the former Nottingham Forest and Notts County player has signed for the Pilgrims on a short-term contract.

Released by Notts County at the end of last season, the Algerian, who has impressed Sheridan during his trial period, has completed his registration in time to be eligible to play in Tuesday night’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first-round tie at Cheltenham.

Hamza will wear the number 20 shirt.
