Police are appealing for witnesses of a fatal collision near Totnes on Friday 14 February.

Richard Golborn, 47, from Plymouth, was travelling on the A385 from Totnes to Avonwick when at around 2pm his car, a black Ford Focus, left the road and collided with a tree.

Members of the public stopped and assisted with first aid for Mr Golbron but his injuries tragically proved to be fatal.

Police officers closed the road for investigation and are now keen to trace anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the car travelling shortly before the incident to call police on 101 quoting reference 493 of 14th February 2014.

In tribute Mr Golborn’s sister, Jacqui Stewart, said: “Richard, my big bro, what can I say, you had a great sense of humour and were very quick-witted and sharp.

“You loved that motorbike of yours and went touring with it a number of times over the years.

“After moving down to the South West about seven years ago, you made your new life.

“Around five months ago you finally met the woman of your dreams with whom you shared a passion for classical music and literature.

“A loving son to our dad, uncle to my two children, a proud grandson of a wonderful lady and, not least, father to a fabulous daughter; you will be greatly missed.

“Now in the arms of mum, please give her a hug and kiss from me – your sad, annoying little sister xxx”

The cremation will take place at 2pm on 10th March 2014 at Torquay Crematorium, Hele Road. All are welcome.

Flowers from family only please; a donation to Devon Air Ambulance would be greatly received instead.
