Two men have appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court following a charge for conspiracy to commit burglary.

The two men were charged on Friday 25 October 2013; a third man, a 29-year-old from Chesterfield, has been bailed until January 2014 whilst further enquiries are conducted.

The two men charged are 23-year-old Martin McCann from Worksop and 23-year-old Bowsy Bowater from Chesterfield. Both men appeared at Plymouth Magistrates Court on the morning of Saturday 26 October 2013 where they were further remanded in custody.

The three men were arrested and detained in police custody for questioning in connection with a string of bogus caller incidents in Newton Abbot and South Brent.

Three properties in the Newton Abbot area and two in South Brent were targeted with callers claiming to be from the water board – and on one occasion police officers – conning their way into people’s homes

The scam involved one person keeping the owner distracted while another person searches their home for cash and valuables.
