Travel advice for 10k runners and spectators

The Plymouth 10k will see hundreds of runners and spectators heading to the centre of Plymouth on Sunday 2 November, and organisers are advising people to allow plenty of time to get to the start.

There will also be a number of road closures and diversions, which will begin from 6am which should be factored into your travel plans.

By Car
From the A38: exit at the Manadon Junction and follow the A386 towards the city centre.

Local Traffic
From Plymstock: after crossing Laira Bridge, keep left and join Gdynia Way. Follow the diversion from Gdynia Way into Barbican Approach and you’ll be directed to the city centre via Sutton Road to Breton Side and then via Vauxhall Street to Notte Street towards Western Approach.

From Plympton: drivers will be diverted onto Old Laira Road from Embankment Road.

By Train
The nearest train station is Plymouth Railway Station, which is less than 1 mile from the Race Village (allow approx. 20mins by foot). However, arrivals on a Sunday do not begin in time for the start of the race, but there are convenient links in all directions for return journeys post-event.

Road Closures
Roads will begin closing from 06.00am, Roads will be opened as runners complete each section of the route. Diversion map attached.

Please be aware that between 06.00am and 10.30am the Theatre Royal Car Park and the Civic Centre Car Park will not be accessible and vehicles will not be able to enter or exit the car park during this time.
