Theatre Royal Plymouth launches this year’s Festive Appeal

Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is gearing up for a season of festivities with the launch of its cherished Festive Appeal. The annual fundraising appeal supports the theatre’s community projects and will run from now until mid-January to coincide with the culmination of this year’s pantomime, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

TRP supports local emerging artists pursuing a career in the industry and works with some of the most vulnerable people in the community, including school children and those who have faced challenges including homelessness and addiction. Last year’s appeal raised £27,000, which helped to support this year’s projects, each with a different goal of developing core life skills, building confidence and enhancing mental health.

James Mackenzie-Blackman, Chief Executive and Executive Producer of Theatre Royal Plymouth, said: “Launching our fabulous Festive Appeal is always a highlight in TRP’s calendar. It starts the countdown to Christmas and means that our Christmas season of work is just around the corner.

“Last year, our loyal supporters helped us to raise an incredible amount which allowed us to continue our community projects. This year, we appreciate times are hard for people, but every penny really does count and any donation will go a long way to help us spread joy to the people of Plymouth and beyond.”

In the last year, they have: 

Run over 1,700 sessions 

Engaged with over 8,700 participants 

This includes over 7,300 young people!

Led 34 individual projects for people in our community
