Tea dance entertainment for elderly
A local young lady, Katie Wheeler has joined the Cat's Whiskers Tea Dance Company to help spread joy amongst the elderly people in Plymouth.
Katie has recently graduated with a degree in Dance and Theatre Arts and strongly believes in the happiness music can bring to those who need it most.
Katie will be visiting local care homes and putting on vintage tea dances for the Residents- bringing back memories of days gone by.
Each tea dance starts with Katie dressed top to toe in a beautiful tea dance costume. Katie then leads a sing a long featuring all the old favourites from 'Roll out the Barrel' to 'Nothing but a Hound Dog'. Residents are encouraged to dance in their seats and sing a long with song sheets provided.
After the sing song Katie provides beautiful vintage crockery to use for afternoon tea including cake stands, teapots and cups and saucers.
Once everyone is feasting on their afternoon tea Katie hands around 1940s and 1950s reminiscence items and encourages the Residents to share memories and stories.
The Cat's Whiskers is a successful company covering most of the South West. It is our mission to provide appropriate, engaging and professional entertainment for people in care which stimulates them and enriches their lives.
