St Edwards launches Living Churchyard

St Edwards Church in Eggbuckland launched its Living Churchyard project last month to care for the churchyard in an environmentally friendly way being sensitive to both the needs of the bereaved and to wildlife.

The event was attended by Bishop Nick McKinnel, Bishop of Plymouth together with local MP Johnny Mercer, councillors Ian and Linda Bowyer and Tim and Elizabeth Dickens, former Vicar of the parish.

Bishop Nick prayed over and blessed the churchyard and cut a green ribbon tied round the 300 year old yew tree which takes pride of place by the south door of the Church.
