Alison Seabeck MP and the Friends of Ham Woods are setting up a Spring Litter Pick.

This will take place on Saturday 5 April starting at 11 am and ending at 1pm.

The Friends are laying on bug hunts etc for younger people as well as other activities and people are being encouraged to come and join in.  They need to wear sensible shoes and ideally bring gloves but other equipment and bags will be provided.    If they would just like to come and see the woods in its spring glory then they are very welcome but picking up a piece or two of litter would help.

Alison Seabeck MP said:, “We sometimes undervalue the green space we have in our City.  What the Friends have done with Ham Woods is amazing.

"There was a time when all the casework I was receiving was to do with problems and lack of care for the site.

"That has all changed and today’s event is designed to both ‘show off’ this little gem but also to raise awareness about the importance of picking up your litter and taking it home with you.

"The wind still blows litter into this area and so we felt we should have a ‘spring clean’ to support those many volunteers from the Friends Group who regularly undertake this chore.

"It is our way for the community to say ‘thank you’ to them for their commitment and for helping to transform the woods with the support of bodies like the local council. “
