Giles Chichester, Conservative MEP for South West England and Gibraltar, took up an invitation to visit the Brook Green Centre for Learning in Plymouth on Friday 10 May.  Mr Chichester met with staff and students and participated in the school’s Citizenship Programme by talking to the students about Britain’s relationship with the European Community and his role as a Member of the European Parliament.

The Brook Green Centre is attended by 93 students aged 11 – 16 years from the Plymouth area who have been diagnosed as having moderate learning, behaviour and social disadvantages.  The Centre provides a successful range of academic and vocational courses.

In 2012, for the second consecutive year, school leavers proved Brook Green Centre to be the best performing special needs school in Plymouth with 22% achieving five or more GCSEs in A-G grades.
