Sailor dies in incident on HMS Bulwark

A sailor has died on board a warship docked in Plymouth, police say.

A sailor has died following an industrial incident on board the Royal Navy’s flagship, HMS Bulwark.

The man was believed to be working on a lift shaft when the accident happened at around 10.55am today.

The sailor was declared dead at the scene, on board the ship, which is moored at Devonport naval base.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were investigating the death with the Health and Safety Executive and the Royal Navy.

A Royal Navy spokesman said the individual's next of kin had been informed.
