Plymouth City Council is delighted to announce that British home, garden and leisure retailer The Range, will be the main sponsor for the British Firework Championships which takes place on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 August over Plymouth’s spectacular waterfront.

As part of the sponsorship deal The Range will be play a key part in the promotion of the event and help with the judging of the competition.

Owner and founder of The Range Chris Dawson has promised to offer honesty and encouragement in this role, rooting for the competitors to work hard and achieve their very best.

Owner and founder of The Range, Chris Dawson said: “The Range is very pleased to sponsor this year’s British Firework Championships.  We have the largest collection of Fireworks on sale, so supporting this event will play a big part in letting punters know that we are the place to go for the best fireworks in town. This year the event is bigger and better than ever and we should be proud to show the world what a great City we have.”

The Range is a company with firm roots in the South West and they are proud to support an event which brings countless visitors and vital exposure to Plymouth.  This is a perfect fit as their stores sell a variety of fireworks products around Bonfire night.

The Range will help us take this event to a whole new level and I am thrilled to welcome them.”

Chief Executive of Destination Plymouth, Amanda Lumley added: “The British Fireworks Championships is a jewel in the crown in terms of attracting visitors to the city year on year. Destination Plymouth is delighted that the City is able to partner with The Range to ensure that this event can continue to attract thousands of visitors and massive publicity which is hugely important for the local visitor economy and the 8,000 jobs that this provides.”

Tens of thousands of Plymouth residents and holiday makers head to Plymouth’s Hoe for two evenings of family entertainment and spectacular fireworks displays.  This year The Royal Air Force’s world-famous aerobatics team, The Red Arrows, will take to the air on the second night of the British Firework Championships on Wednesday 19 August. Hosted by The Event Services Association (TESA) and Plymouth City Council the championships are one of the biggest annual displays put on by professional firework companies in the UK.
