Prime Minister thanks Plymouth Pride organisers
The Prime Minister has thanked the organisers of Plymouth Pride for bringing together communities to celebrate freedom, equality, difference and diversity.
Local Conservatives hosted a stall at the event to join in the festivities and promote the party’s work to tackle discrimination in every walk of life.
Prime Minister Theresa May said: “Pride events are important in bringing together communities across the country to celebrate freedom, equality, difference and diversity.
“I want the UK to be a country where no one feels the need to hide who they are or who they love, and the Pride celebrations are a crucial driver of that cultural change.
“Each and every Pride organiser and volunteer should be proud of the work they do to arrange these events that attract hundreds and thousands of individuals each year. I would like to thank you for all your hard work and for the voice that you give LGBT people.”
Peter Booth, South West Regional Chairman of the Conservative Party, said: “As a gay man, I’m proud of the fact the UK is a world leader in LGBT rights and of this Conservative Government’s record in promoting a diverse, tolerant society.”
