Police investigate theft of boat engine

Police are investigating the theft of a £500 outboard engine from a dinghy at Saltash Sailing Club.

The dinghy was floated from the pontoon in Tamar Road, taken a short distance away and the Mercury 5 hp 2 stroke engine forcibly removed.

The damaged boat was later found abandoned on the beach at end of Wearde Road in Saltash.

The theft happened sometime between 8pm on Saturday 13 September and 7.15am the next day.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or individuals around the club at the time of the offence to contact them on 101, quoting crime reference CR/106663/14.
