Police investigate sexual assault in Plymouth nightspot

Police in Plymouth investigating a sexual assault in the city are asking for the public’s assistance.

Between midnight and 3am in the early hours of Saturday 3 August, a woman was approached by a man on the dance floor in the Union Rooms, Union Street and assaulted.

The man is described as white, clean shaven, with collar length brown hair, 5ft 8” tall, of slim build and wearing a black t-shirt with white logo on the front, black or grey trousers, dark coloured footwear and was, possibly, in possession of a grey jumper.

Police believe there may have been bystanders in the pub who took video footage or photographs of the incident and officers are keen to hear from any potential witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference EC/13/7546.

A 25-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released on police bail until October while enquiries continue.
