A great time was had by all those who attended The Plymouth Lord Mayor's Charity Dinner on Friday 24th February 2017.

The evening was arranged to raise funds for the South West Mesothelioma Support Group which raises awareness about the health risks associated with asbestos and supports those diagnosed with the terminal asbestos related cancer and Frontline Veterans Support, a community group set up by veterans in order to provide other veterans with the tools to help them learn to live and cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (combat or other). Over £2000 was raised for the two local causes.

Members of the South West Mesothelioma Support Group would like to extend their sincere thanks to Plymouth Lord Mayor Councillor Pauline Murphy and her Consort Councillor Brian Vincent for organising the evening and to all those who supported the event. Also the staff at Stonehouse Creek Leisure and Social Club who helped make it such a success.

The South West Mesothelioma Support group holds regular meetings in Plymouth and Truro for those diagnosed or affected by Mesothelioma plus other asbestos related conditions.

The group’s friendly and informal meetings are a chance to meet other patients and carers who understand what those diagnosed are going through and also share more about the condition and the help that is available. Members of the group also fund raise and spread awareness throughout the region about the condition and ongoing dangers of asbestos.

New members are welcome. Anyone requiring information about the support group can contact Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialist Christine Jones on 01752 763665 or christine.paterson4@nhs.net
