Plymouth lifeboat's annual open day

This Sunday, 3 August, at 11am, the RNLI Plymouth lifeboats will be holding their annual open day at the Prince William Yard in Stonehouse.

Both of the Plymouth lifeboats will be on show.

The inshore lifeboat, a Atlantic75 called Millennium Forester, and the all-weather boat a Severn class lifeboat named Sybil Mullen Glover, will be afloat in the Royal William Yard marina.

The day will be a rare chance to see the local RNLI lifeboats up close and talk to the volunteer crews that go to sea in them.

You can even come on board the 42 ton all-weather boat and see the specialist equipment used for saving lives at sea. With nearly 70 rescues since the beginning of the year, Plymouth has one of the busiest lifeboat stations in the country.

The RNLI (The Royal National Lifeboat Institution) is a charity funded by the goodwill of the public.

This Sunday is a chance to meet the crews and local volunteers who give their time to saving lives at sea.
