Plymouth’s annual bonfire night event is a family-friendly event with fireworks set to a musical soundtrack and lighting display to complement the glow of the bonfire. The event’s setting on Plymouth’s Hoe gives stunning views of Smeaton’s Tower, the Royal Citadel walls, the Hoe gardens and the Royal Naval War Memorial, which will be illuminated by coloured lights on the night.

Fairground rides and refreshment stands will be open from midday and the main event will begin at 6pm with Heart FM entertaining the crowd from its show stage on the Hoe promenade. The bonfire, near to Smeaton’s Tower, will be lit at 7.30pm and will be topped with a Guy provided by St Andrew’s Primary School.

Performances from Devon Dance Zone, Rhythm City and Melisa Adams will entertain the crowds before the fireworks display and to conclude the evening’s entertainment Joyride will take to the stage at 8.30pm.

At 8pm, specialists from Surrey-based fireworks company Pyrovision will set off rounds of sparkling fireworks from the Citadel in a spectacular 18-minute display accompanied by a musical soundtrack featuring well known tunes for the crowd to sing along to.

Peter Smith, Deputy Council Leader said: ‘Our Bonfire Night event is always really popular and a great way for the whole family to enjoy a fun evening out in safety. The Hoe provides an amazing backdrop for the fireworks display and bonfire, especially with all the atmospheric lighting and music. There are also fairground rides, refreshments and fantastic live entertainment making this the best Bonfire Night celebration in the city’.
