Nurses and midwives will have the opportunity to hear from their colleagues at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust next week at the Trust’s first nursing and midwifery conference.

The nursing and midwifery teams at Plymouth Hospitals have organised the #WeCare Nursing and Midwifery Conference, which will be held at the Postgraduate Medical Centre on Tuesday 13 May, to coincide with International Nurses Day on the 12th.

The conference is open to all registered and unregistered nurses and midwives and to enable as many of them to be able to attend the conference, the day has been split into two sessions, with an opportunity for people to look at stands during the lunchtime break.

The run up to the conference is being supported by the Trust’s #WeCare campaign, which celebrates the commitment, professionalism and great work of our nursing and midwifery workforce. Launched on Tuesday 22 April, each day the Trust has profiled a member of staff from the nursing and midwifery workforce and has shared a day in their life via its website and social media accounts.

In addition, as part of the campaign, the Trust has been sharing statements from nursing and midwifery colleagues about why they care. The “I care because…” statements have featured on screens around Derriford Hospital, on the Trust’s Facebook page and Twitter accounts and also on the Trust’s #WeCare board on Pinterest.

Greg Dix, Director of Nursing, said: “We are so proud of the nursing and midwifery care we offer at Plymouth Hospitals and the conference and campaign is a fantastic way to showcase the work and dedication of our staff.

“This is our first ever conference and we have a variety of speakers attending, who will be talking on a number of topics, which we hope everyone will find interesting and informative.”
