Plymouth family law specialist shortlisted as a 'Legal Hero'
Director Carrie Laws of The Family Law Company has been shortlisted by the Law Society of England and Wales for recognition as a Legal Hero.
Carrie, who specialises in representing children and vulnerable families, has been nominated for leading work to embed trauma-informed practice, championing accessibility for the D/deaf community and commitment to legal aid.
The Legal Heroes campaign celebrates solicitors who have made the biggest difference to the lives of others, their local communities and society over the last two years, recognising solicitors who have shown personal commitment and leadership to make a significant difference to other people's lives.
Mark Evans, President of the Law Society of England and Wales, said: “Legal Heroes shines a light on the solicitors in England, Wales and internationally making a difference to people’s lives, communities and wider society. This is our chance to celebrate the best of us and inspire future generations of solicitors.”
Amongst the evidence required for the nomination, Legal Heroes looks at those who go beyond what is expected within the usual ‘day job’ of delivering excellence as a professional solicitor, and the time and personal commitment the nominee has given to make a difference.
Rachel Buckley, Joint-MD of The Family Law Company, said: “Carrie is exceptional in her passion for supporting the most vulnerable of clients. She is well respected for her approach, which has garnered judicial praise. We are all proud that she has been shortlisted in this prestigious event, representing the West Country.”
Carrie was President of the Plymouth Law Society in 2024 and in the same year received the West Country Women of the Year award for Diversity and Equality.
