Graham Livingston, the managing director of home care provider, Caremark (Plymouth), has been chosen to represent the care sector at Devon Sustainable Transformation Partnership (STP)’s quarterly meetings, an initiative part of a national government drive to improve health and social care.

The STP involves NHS Trusts, clinical commissioning groups, local authorities, GPs and voluntary sector partners from across Devon.

Graham, whose business was recently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) said: “The STP meetings aim to prevent ill health and support people’s independence by providing more joined up care services in their community. By communicating effectively and working closely together, we want to come up with innovative solutions to help older or otherwise vulnerable people locally.”

As the owner of a local home care business Graham can provide detailed insight and advice relating to health and social care for the benefit of other STP members.

Graham continued: “It costs around four times as much to care for someone in hospital compared to providing care to someone in their home. So, working together to help people stay in their own homes for longer is beneficial for the individual themselves and frees up NHS resources to be utilised elsewhere.”

Graham and his wife Alison have a background in care and started Caremark (Plymouth) in 2012 with a view to delivering high quality care services in the local area.
