Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre chooses Plymouth Drake Foundation as its charity

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, one of a handful of hospitals in the country to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, has chosen Plymouth Drake Foundation as its charity for this year – and big hearted patients, visitors and members of staff have already raised £370.

Plymouth Drake Foundation’s aim is to develop wealthy, healthy and lively communities in Plymouth. It achieves this by granting funds to charities, community groups and social enterprises throughout the city. To date more than 260 groups have benefited in the city, to the tune of over £800,000 in grant awards.

With comparatively shorter waiting times and excellent patient satisfaction levels, Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre is a popular hospital in the region and provides care for orthopaedic surgery (major and minor), cataracts, general surgery (such as hernia repair and gall bladder removal) and endoscopy. It is part of the region’s choice for NHS care.

Mark White, Hospital Director at Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, commented: “We are delighted to have adopted Plymouth Drake Foundation as charity for the year. We are impressed by the amount of good the charity does in the wider community of Plymouth, and its ethos mirrors our own in our commitment to the city.”

Support from local organisations is vital to us and helps us to deliver much needed funding to deserving groups throughout the city.”
