Patients have given Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth (formerly Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre) a score of 100% for its ophthalmology services, day ward, inpatient ward and endoscopy, according to the latest results from the national Friends and Family Test.

Overall, Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth scored 98.4% from the 677 patients who completed the Friends and Family questionnaire during the month of September.

Since March the hospital has supported local NHS patients and colleagues, taking on new specialties and procedures to ensure NHS patients receive the care they need and to relieve pressure on local NHS services. The hospital continues to provide support in this way but it has also resumed elective (planned) surgery for NHS, self-pay and private medical insured patients.

All providers of health care are required to carry out the Family and Friends Test as part of the NHS’ commitment to improving the patient experience. The results of the test rest on the level to which a patient would recommend a health care facility to their nearest and dearest

Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth is well known for the quality of its patient experience and was the first hospital of its kind to achieve a rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission. Comments from patients posted on Facebook include: “My experience was commendable”; “The care and respect they give to patients is outstanding”; “Amazing staff and service”, and; “The care is top class, just like all the staff”.

Mark White, Hospital Director at Practice Plus Group Hospital Plymouth, commented: “We are very pleased to have achieved such a positive response in the latest Friends and Family Test, especially as we continue to offer support to the NHS during the ongoing pandemic. We are very grateful to our patients who complete the Friends and Family Test and my thanks go to colleagues who have maintained the highest standards of care in an unprecedented healthcare environment.”
