This year's annual family pantomime Hansel and Gretel by Alan P Frayn is brought to you by Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society. The pantomime has been a regular fixture at the Manor Pavilion Theatre, Sidmouth since 1978 and is a big feature in the local community calendar, bringing joy to the area.

Last year's pantomime Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates won the NODA award for best small pantomime in the South West and the director, Marc Colson has brought his team back together for another blockbuster show.

Nearly 100 people have been involved in the production this year.

The work began back in April where the cast and crew have been busy rehearsing, set building, prop making and designing costumes for the show.

The pantomime will feature East Devon Dance Academy, Elite Dancers, led by choreographer Lucie Welsman-Manvell, bringing a vibrant and young energy to the show, which was a huge success last year.

The musical director Emily Miller will be working with a youthful band again this year to bring a dynamic and exciting soundtrack to the show. Opportunities for young people to participate in the production are a strong part of the ethos of the organisers.

Marc Colson, the director, fondly remembers his first pantomime at the Manor Pavilion Theatre back in 1982 and the thrill of his first outing 'treading the boards.'

Marc added: "It's a great partnership and the staff at the theatre work hard to help us put this production together. We can't wait to welcome audiences this year and I can promise it's full of the usual traditional elements with a few surprises thrown in... Oh yes it is!"

For many people, coming to the pantomime in Sidmouth is their earliest memory of coming to the theatre. The pantomime continues to attract new audiences to the theatre and encourage participation in the Arts.
