Odeon plans new iSense cinema for Higher Home Park site

The Odeon and UCI Cinemas Group plans to open a new multiplex cinema in the city as early as 2015.

The cinema, which will be the first in the region to have the new immersive iSense screen, will form part of the Plymouth Argyle FC led Higher Home Park development.

Plymouth owner and chairman, James Brent, has revealed extensive plans to redevelop the area, with a new grandstand to be constructed at the ground and the firm intention of attracting more business and leisure facilities to the area.

The £50m development plans include a hotel, ice rink, cafés and shops as well as the new 10 screen cinema multiplex and could create more than 600 new construction jobs and 400 further management and service opportunities.

James Brent hopes that the growth initiative will bring an economic boost to the city and sport and leisure benefits to the local community. The Higher Home Park project links with Brent's ambitious plans for Argyle to climb the league tables and bring Championship level football back to the city. This season, the club narrowly avoided relegation from League Two, the lowest tier of the Football League. The first step was the appointment of manager John Sheridan on a new three year contract.

Details of the development project can be found at http://www.higherhomepark.co.uk/.
