Oddfellows Southern Conference Hailed a Major Success as Torquay Hosts Thriving Regional Event
Members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society from across the South West have returned from Torquay following a highly successful three day regional conference.
Deputies from Redruth, Truro and Plymouth joined others from across the large Southern Group for a packed programme of meetings, discussions and social events based in a seafront hotel which was able to accommodate and cater for the attendees as well as provide conference facilities.
Key topics affecting the Society were addressed, alongside formal business including financial reports and the appointment of the Southern Group Executive Committee.
Cornwall was well represented, with Past Presidents Ken and Pete playing active roles. Deputies and members from Plymouth and Truro District also contributed to discussions and supported the smooth running of the event.
A gala dinner and evening of entertainment provided a social highlight, while attendees also took the opportunity to explore local attractions between sessions.
Tony, Provincial Deputy Grand Master attending his first conference, said: “It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The sense of friendship and support is what makes the Oddfellows so special. You’re part of something bigger and you’re never on your own.”
