Moorland Fuels achieves distinguished Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme accreditation
Okehampton-based Moorland Fuels, a leading provider of commercial fuels, heating oil, and lubricants in the South West, has achieved a significant milestone on its journey towards both net zero, and its commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and driver safety standards, by achieving the highly regarded Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme Bronze accreditation.
Known as FORS, the voluntary scheme is open to any company operating commercial vehicles across the UK or overseas. Its goal is to drive-up safety, efficiency and environmental standards across the road transport industry, by helping fleets operate as safely and fuel efficiently as possible, while also reducing their environmental impact through the reduction of emissions.
Moorland Fuels’ Bronze standard demonstrates the high levels of safety, efficiency, professionalism and environmental protection evidenced during the accreditation process.
This process involved rigorous assessments of the company’s daily fleet operations to ensure compliance with industry best practice as set out by FORS. It also saw reviews of levels of training and the team’s day-to-day commitment to running a high-quality fleet of well-maintained Euro VI delivery tankers. This included having tyre management policies in place, meeting the latest exhaust emissions standards, and utilising the latest safety features on all vehicles.
Commenting on the achievement, Mark Bailey, Operations and Transport Manager for the Group, said: “Becoming part of the FORS accreditation scheme not only endorses best practice and measures that we already have in place, but it has also helped to inform, influence, and enhance internal standards, policies and procedures.
“It has also given us access to training courses and online learning modules alongside expert advice. That’s aiding our ongoing commitment to the implementation of the safest, most fuel-efficient approaches to the running of our daily fleet operations, which includes eco-routing, and the recording of our use of AdBlue.”
Abby Turner, Director of Moorland Fuels, added: “We’re proud to serve our commercial, agricultural and domestic customers throughout the South West. Our role here is to fuel the heartbeat of our communities, not only through excellent customer service and reliability, but through the implementation of best practices. Making good on our safety, legal obligations, and practices to reduce our environmental impact is all part of this process.”
Abby added: “Achieving FORS Bronze accreditation is a stamp of quality, giving both for our staff and our customers peace of mind. For commercial operators who require FORS accreditation as part of their tendering and re-tendering process, it endorses our operations and gives certainty that they are working with a business that maintains the highest standards of safety, efficiency, sustainability and environmental performance.”
Earlier this year, Moorland Fuels secured membership of RFAS, which verifies the Okehampton-based business’s renewable HVO fuel supply chain and gives customers access to independently verified Greenhouse Gas (GHG) data. Aiding customers tendering for contracts that need to evidence Scope 2 and 3 emissions, Moorland Fuels believes that this, added to its Bronze FORS accreditation, gives it an edge that will appeal to South West businesses.
