The team behind the iconic Mayflower Autonomous Ship which will sail out of Plymouth, UK, to Plymouth, USA in 2020 to commemorate 400 years since the Mayflower set sail is delighted to welcome a new project sponsor!

Veripos is a world leader in the offshore and marine navigation and positioning market and has pledged to support the project.  VERIPOS (Part of Hexagon) is among a number of influential sponsors who are backing the project. Headquartered in Aberdeen Scotland, Veripos offers a comprehensive range of precise GNSS positioning services from its global network of offices.

VERIPOS offers highly robust and assured precise positioning services using geostationary satellites that deliver centimetre accuracy on a Global basis, even under the most difficult offshore marine operating conditions. VERIPOS will supply 2 GNSS receiver systems to the Mayflower Autonomous Ship, Jonny Gerrard from Veripos said: “these units are capable of Multi Constellation reception which provide the highest levels of positioning performance in terms of accuracy and reliability, no matter what region of the world the Mayflower Autonomous Ship will be sailing.”

A key to VERIPOS’s success is operational support, VERIPOS understand that highly responsive customer support is vital to any Global Maritime business and ensure seamless marine operations via a global network of support offices including centres in Aberdeen and Singapore that are manned on a 24-hour/365-day basis.

Other sponsors include:  Plymouth Citybus, UTC Aerospace Systems, Silicon Sensing, Rotec, M Subs Ltd, ProMare, & Plymouth University.

The Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS) will be the first vessel of its kind to sail without captain or crew across the Atlantic and be able to conduct scientific research around the world.  As the flagship of the Mayflower 400 celebrations, it will mark a moment in history that changed lives on both sides of the Atlantic irreversibly and with courage and vision, and captures the spirit of discovery.

The Mayflower Autonomous Ship will be solar powered, with cutting-edge battery and renewable energy capture, capable of travelling to inhospitable parts of the world to conduct scientific research and collect data. Built in Plymouth and the south west.
