Man allegedly shot in head with air rifle

A man in his 60s is being treated at Derriford Hospital after being allegedly shot in the head with an air rifle in a Plymouth car park.

The incident, which happened at William Prance Road in Derriford, was reported to police at around 3.10pm yesterday (4 June).

A spokesman for the police said that following a search in nearby woods a police dog found a .22 air rifle and a 177 air rifle, together with two boxes of pellets.

Two men aged 21 and 19 have been arrested in connection with the incident and are being detained at Charles Cross Police Station awaiting interview.

The victim’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
