The National Trust is working with Cotswold Outdoor to give families in England the chance to try something different this winter. Thousands are expected to take part in the conservation charity’s exciting Night Run series.

This is the third year of the National Trust’s Night Run series, with the family-friendly events taking place between October 2016 and March 2017.

5 National Trust parklands and woodlands (16 nation-wide) will be hosting the night time running events, offering participants the choice between a shorter Explorer route (1-3 km), suitable for all ages, and a more challenging Adventurer route (6-9 km) for those aged over 12.

Run on safe, off-road trails, the Night Runs give people the chance to take on a variety of grassy, woodland and paved routes. Many Night Run events will be hosting family-friendly activities such as face painting, marshmallow roasting and guided wildlife walks.

Mel Handford, Sports Partnerships Manager at the National Trust, said: “There was an incredible buzz around last year’s Night Run series. This winter, the Night Runs will be bigger and better, offering families the perfect opportunity to explore a hidden side to our famous gardens and landscapes.”

The National Trust has partnered with outdoor retailer Cotswold Outdoor on the Night Run series for a second year, offering families the chance to experience the conservation charity’s parkland and gardens at night.

Local staff from the retailer will be on hand at many events to offer friendly advice on quality running clothing and outdoor equipment.

James Dumas, Partnership Director at Cotswold Outdoor, said: “We’re very excited to be working with the National Trust on the Night Run series for a second year. At Cotswold Outdoor many of us are passionate runners, so we’re proud to be able to offer members real-life advice - not just what’s on the label.”
