Chilcotts Auctioneers hosted a special private auction preview to celebrate the opening of the new Dolphin Salerooms.

The company moved into the premises during early 2021, but the original launch event was cancelled due to continuing restrictions of the pandemic. In the meantime the refurbishment of the historical building, which dates back to the 1300s, was completed and the three sale rooms, Courtenay Room, Victoria Room and Orange Room all named after historical connections, were opened to the public for viewings and auctions.

Fortunately this time the official launch event went ahead as planned, with around 80 people attending to enjoy champagne and canapes, as well as browse a range of interesting items to be auctioned in the April ‘Pictures, Ceramics, Works of Art & Clocks; 20th Century Design, Antiques & Home Interiors’ sale.

Guests  included regular buyers and sellers, representatives from local businesses, town councillors, and friends. Pianist Mark McGrath was on hand to entertain guests with a selection of well-known melodies.

Auctioneer Duncan Chilcott gave a brief speech to thank everyone for coming to celebrate this exciting next chapter in the Chilcotts story.
