Know the Different Classes of Campervans and Mobile Homes
It's a beautiful idea to take a vacation while still enjoying the comforts of home. If you have a recreational vehicle (RV), you can do both. You can take some outdoor activity gear with you, cook food, have picnics, and enjoy sightseeing and outdoor adventures.
An RV is like a small home or a tiny apartment with complementary facilities and features to ensure that you can have a wonderful break when you have the opportunity. You have kitchen facilities, air conditioning, sleeping areas, comfortable seats, light and water, and entertainment fixtures for music, television, videos and games.
A campervan or a motorhome is a recreational vehicle. A motorhome is more substantial and can accommodate more people. If you're considering purchasing one, you should know the different classes, so you can find the right one to fit your travel needs.
Class A
In terms of motorhomes, Class A is the biggest. The only vehicle bigger than the Class A motorhome is the one that can tow a trailer, boat or another vehicle. Based on the size, its length is between 8.8 and 13.7 metres. About six to eight people can sleep in it. It has bottom storage, full bathroom facilities, complete kitchen facilities and multiple awnings. There are slide outs as well. You need an upgraded licence to drive a Class A motorhome.
Class B
The Class B motorhome is the smallest and about 5.4 to 7.3 metres in length. It can sleep four people. The size of the Class B motorhome makes it easier to park, and it consumes less fuel. It is suitable for people who love to travel away from popular destinations and those looking for free parking spaces (boondocking). Class B has a smaller cabin and less storage space, but it is definitely cheaper than the other classes. It's ideal for a small family that does not need too much storage space.
Class B+
A Class B+ model is bigger than Class B and has additional features. Some models have a stand-up shower/bath combo. It likewise offers more space in the sleeping area, living area and the kitchen. It is a hybrid model between Class B and Class C, and some have sofa beds and twin beds, which allow more people to sleep inside.
Class C
The size of the Class C motorhome is between Class A, and Class B. Its length varies from 9.1 metres to 10 metres. It offers extra sleeping area or storage space in the overhead cabin located above the driver and passenger seats. Overall, a Class C motorhome can sleep eight people. It's a good choice if you have a large family. Moreover, it has all the features and facilities you'll find in a Class A motorhome.
You can find a selection of different classes of motorhomes from motorhome dealers in Scotland. You should consider your budget, the reasons for getting a motorhome, the people going with you, and the features of the motorhome that you think are essential.
