Families can kick off their Easter holidays on Saturday 1 April with free nature spotting and beach activities guided by National Trust Rangers and Devon Wildlife Trust Wardens.

Wembury Spring Fun Day runs from 11am – 4pm at the seaside haven just outside Plymouth and visitors can drop in whenever they like to join the outdoor family activities lined up throughout the day

Kids can look forward to rock pooling to spot marine creatures, hunting for bugs that have emerged with the warmer weather, and dipping nets into the stream to see what lives there. The activities are intended to bring children closer to the outdoors, learning all about the critters that live around there and, importantly, how to take care of them and their habitats.

There will also be kite-making and flying on the beach, alongside games and other seaside activities that everyone can enjoy.

‘These events are a great way for families to try new things, explore familiar places in a new way, and see first-hand the conservation work that takes place every day to protect our coastlines,’ explains Lorna Sherriff, National Trust Area Ranger. ‘It’s a great to watch the kids getting excited by what they find living here. We hope they’ll have a lot of fun and be inspired to take care of nature at home, too.’

Part of the popular national ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ campaign, Wembury Spring Fun Day is the first of a year-long programme of events aimed at encouraging families to enjoy the outdoors together.
