Homebase in Plymouth is taking part in a nationwide Christmas ‘communi-tree’ initiative, which will see over a thousand schools, charities and community groups receive a free Christmas tree, helping them to kick start their festivities.

Team members at the home improvement and garden retailer are calling for local schools, charities and community groups to get in touch to be considered to receive their own large, Nordman Fir real Christmas tree.

All 170 Homebase stores across the country are taking part in the  Homebase ‘communi-trees’ Christmas tree initiative, which coincides with the advent of the first real Christmas tree harvest and their arrival in stores, which starts from Wednesday 27 November 2019.  To celebrate their arrival, across the weekend the Homebase Nordman Fir Christmas tree will be available from just £15.

David Gillespie, Homebase Christmas Tree Buyer, says: “Putting up the Christmas tree is often the moment when, for most of us, people come together, and the festive season officially begins. We’re delighted to be supporting local communities across the country, including in Plymouth by donating over a thousand trees to schools, charities and community groups to enable them to take part in this ‘tree-mendously’ magical time of year with their own, real Christmas tree.”

All variety of Homebase Christmas trees, whether a small living potted Nordman Fir or a 6ft Fraser Fir, are sustainably grown and all sourced from across the UK – Inverness, Tayside, West Calder and Berkshire. This year, Homebase is offering a wide range of real Christmas trees available in store starting from just £15.

David Gillespie, Homebase Christmas Tree Buyer, continues: “All Homebase Christmas trees are carefully nurtured throughout the year before being delivered into stores within a few days of being harvested and kept outside in the cold which keeps them fresh. So, whether you put up your tree on the 1 December or wait until Christmas eve, you can rest assured your Homebase Christmas tree will still look enchanting on the big day!”

For an organisation to be considered to receive a real Christmas tree, simply email ChristmasTrees@Homebase.co.uk  and put the name of your local store in the headline, or pop into Homebase store in Unit 6 Marsh Mills Ret Pk, Longbridge Rd, Plymouth PL6 8LX, with a letter addressed to the Store Manager by Sunday 1 December 2019.

The thousand schools, charities and local groups will be chosen and contacted by local Homebase store teams by Monday 2 December 2019.
