Helen Blundell, a Physiotherapist at Derriford Hospital, is running the full Barcelona Marathon in March, to raise funds for Hexworthy Ward. This will help towards the purchase of new equipment to support the care of the patients on the ward.

Helen has already completed the Plymouth 10k and her first Plymouth Half Marathon, but is now determined to stretch her limits and complete a full marathon.

Helen said: “I am extremely nervous for this run, as it is the first full marathon that I have ever completed. I have previously fundraised for the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research and Multiple Sclerosis Society, but this time I wanted to raise money for Hexworthy Ward at Derriford Hospital, so I can see the money being spent on equipment that will be greatly appreciated by so many.

“I am hoping to raise £300.00, which will be a massive contribution towards equipment needed for the ward. I have created a JustGiving page called 'Helen's Barcelona Marathon 2015', given out sponsor forms around the hospital and a collection has started on Hexworthy Ward. I am extremely grateful to everyone that has already sponsored me, it really will go far.”
