Freemasons fun weekend raises £1,200 for children's hospice
At a recent weekend gathering, around one hundred Freemasons with their partners and wives from all around Devon spent the weekend enjoying the hospitality of The Esplanade Hotel in Newquay in what has become an annual event.
They gather there each year just to enjoy a weekend away in good company, eat too much and then dance some of it off during the course of the two evenings. What is the norm amongst Freemasons is to raise money for charity while having fun, on this occasion £1,200 was the magnificent result.
Two of the main organisers of the event, W. Bro. Mike Davis of the Brent Lodge of Topsham and his wife Lesley were then dispatched to Little Bridge House Barnstaple the North Devon Children’s Hospice where they can be seen presenting the cheque to Zoe Mills who accepted it on behalf of the trust saying it was gratefully received and would be faithfully applied. Lesley and Mike were then given a tour of the house and grounds, which, in their words are fabulous and in an idyllic, tranquil and peaceful setting.
Since Little Bridge House has opened Freemasonry has made donations in excess of £100,000 to help maintain the services of the hospice and to help the children who need end of life care, such a worthy cause needs all the help we can all give it.
