Firefighters carry out rescue from Plympton blaze

Fire Control received a 999 call from a carer reported smoke issuing from a property where a person was trapped at a property in Downfield Drive, Plympton.

Three appliances, one each from Plympton, Greenbank and Crownhill attended.  The first appliance arriving on scene 3 minutes after the call was placed.

On arrival fire-fighters confirmed that one person was trapped and they got to work wearing breathing apparatus and using 1 hose reel, to effect a rescue.

Fire-fighters rescued one person suffering from burns and smoke inhalation, they administered first aid until they were able to hand care to an Ambulance crew.

The fire was confined to a chair and table in the lounge of the property, the last appliance left he incident at 23:30, a fire investigation officer and police remain at the incident investigating the cause of the fire.

Final Update - This incident is now complete, with all crews returned. Following fire investigation the cause was confirmed as accidental.
