Emergency services, including two fire engines from Plymstock and Greenbank in Plymouth, were mobilised after Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received reports of a serious two vehicle collision early on Wednesday morning (2 October) on Billacombe Road in Plymstock.

Crews got to work using hydraullic cutting gear and small tools to release two casualties who were "medically trapped" in one of the vehicles.

The casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to Derriford Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The collision, which occured at approximately 7am, caused delays and congestion around the route, near the Sugar Mill industrial park,  in and out of the city, although the road is open.
