Elderly cyclist critical in Derriford Hospital after serious collision in Torquay

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Torquay which left a cyclist with serious injuries.

Officers were called to Torbay Road at 1.30pm on Friday 28 June after a collision between a Mini car and a pedal cycle.

The cyclist, a 71-year-old man from Torquay, suffered head injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Mini, a 28-year-old woman from Torquay, was uninjured in the collision.

Officers from the Force Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are investigating the incident, which happened outside the Grand Hotel, and are appealing for witnesses.
