Drake Circus is turning rainbow this August in partnership with Plymouth Pride as part of city-wide Pride celebrations.

Along with its vibrant lighting scheme, Drake Circus has brought back its multicoloured ribbon canopy and its 12 ft rainbow wall vinyl outside its Cornwall Street entrance – making the perfect photo opportunities for visitors celebrating Pride this month.

To coincide with Pride in the Park event this weekend, on Saturday 5th August the centre will be hosting a badge making workshop with local illustrator, maker and educator artist, Freya Moses, between 10am – 1pm, and 2pm – 5pm in its Atrium space on the Lower Mall.

This year Drake Circus has also partnered with Plymouth Pride as a Local Community Champion to help raise awareness and celebrate the important work that the team do all year round in the local community.

As part of the partnership, colleagues from the Drake Circus management team will receive training as well as access to LGBTQ+ resources to help it build on being an inclusive workplace as well as a supportive environment for visitors to the centre.

Greg Lumley, centre director at Drake Circus, said: “We strive to be a diverse and inclusive place for people to work and shop all year round, which is why we’re delighted to be supporting Plymouth Pride again this year.

“We’re looking forward to being a part of the city-wide celebrations which bring the local community together in a supportive and inclusive environment whilst celebrating Pride.”
