The Combined Laboratories at Derriford Hospital are pleased to announce that their Clinical Pathology Accreditation has been retained.

Accreditation assures patients that technologies and procedures match best practice to provide a consistently high quality service. The labs underwent an external assessment in January and the news means that our Combined Labs have now maintained the accreditation every year since it was introduced in 1992.

Paul Bradshaw, Risk and Quality Manager said: “The accreditation is a seal of approval for the quality of service we offer. This is a significant achievement for such a large and complex laboratory, one that would not have been possible without the care, expertise and diligence of our staff. We are immensely proud of the service and this is reflected in the high standards that we maintain year on year.”

The Laboratory also holds:

  • European Federation for Immunogenetics accreditation for Tissue Typing.
  • Bloodbank and Clinical Trials teams meet MHRA Good Manufacturing and Clinical Practice requirements.
  • Stem Cell team hold a Human Tissue Authority licence to test and store bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells and are JACIE accredited (in conjunction with Haematology and Oncology Services).
