Couple finds a real sense of community in Okehampton after relocating from Greater London
In October 2020, at the height of the pandemic, civil servants David and Lianne moved into their forever home in Okehampton, Devon. However, they never expected to become a part of such a tight-knit community.
The couple had considered relocating for a long time and explored several locations across Devon.
With family in the area, they looked at buying in areas such as Exeter and Barnstaple. However, after seeing Redrow’s Romansfield development they quickly fell in love with the idea of creating a home there.
“We came across Redrow’s Romansfield development and really liked the look and feel of the location,” said Lianne.
“Unlike other newbuilds, we had viewed, these houses didn’t look like a block of lego bricks. Every house had an individual style and the houses were scattered around the lovely green spaces surrounding the development.”
The couple considered several house types and were initially hoping for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom house. However, in the end, it was Redrow’s award-winning Oxford Lifestyle that won them over. With three en-suite bedrooms, it is known to have the luxury standards of a hotel while maintaining the charm and comfort of home.
David said: “The sales staff have been incredible from start to finish. Uprooting your life is never easy, but they truly helped us in the process, especially at a time when we thought it would be impossible to move.”
David adds: “Even after making the move we have maintained contact with the sales team, which is so lovely.”
Lianne and David were not the only ones moving to the Okehampton development during Covid, and going through the same phase of life at the same time has truly created a unique community in the area.
“The true sense of community is fantastic,” said Lianne. “Covid was tough, but it united the neighbours in the area and we all came together around those who had Covid. It’s also been fun to interact with our neighbour’s pets, as we don’t have any ourselves, and we’re doing a Jubilee party together this summer!’
