City businesses in the frame
Key businesses from Plymouth and the surrounding area were in the frame as part of an exhibition to showcase interesting manufacturing companies
The exhibition is the end result of a project led by UK arts organisation, Multistory and world famous photographic co-operative, Magnum Photos.
The images were taken at over 100 workplaces across the UK and 11 of them were companies in the Plymouth area – including Princess Yachts, Burts Potato Chips, Bandvulc Tyres Ltd, Vi-Spring and Summerskills Brewery
Representatives were invited to a sneak preview at the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery at intimate which was launched by Paul Wood, chair of the Plymouth Growth Board.
Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet member for Cooperatives, Housing and Community Safety, welcomed the guests said: “Plymouth has the highest concentration of manufacturing employment of any city south of the Midlands, so we are delighted some very busy people took time out to attend this event.
“Plymouth’s economy has grown faster than the UK’s every year since the end of the recession and many of the people present at the event have played a key part in helping us grow as a city. It’s great to see behind the scenes shots of how they make this happen.”
The Council recently produced a Book of Wonder for the city and uncovered some fascinating facts about the manufacturing sector in Plymouth.
