Cash boost for Woodbury Community Playing Fields
Woodbury Community Playing Fields (WCPF) is today celebrating a £40,739.00 funding boost from SUEZ Communities Trust for the Woodbury Community Playing Fields Drainage Project.
Woodbury Playing Fields plays an important role in the local community, providing outdoor space for sports and play equipment, as well as facilities for the local preschool, Scouts and Guides groups, which share a building on site.
The playing fields suffer from severe drainage problems resulting in water-logging, an unusable play park and water ingress to buildings from autumn through to spring. This project seeks to solve this problem by installing drainage across the site.
Work is due to commence in early December and should be completed before Christmas.
Catherine Luke from WCPF said: “The drainage project will be of great benefit to the community and will help to unlock the potential of the playing fields for a wide range of activities all year round.
"WCPF would like to thank both SUEZ and our local councillors for supporting this project.”
Marek Gordon, Chairman of SUEZ Communities Trust added: “SUEZ Communities Trust provides funding awards through the Landfill Communities Fund. We were delighted to be able to offer funding to Woodbury Community Playing Fields.”
