Buckland Abbey, Garden and Estate’s exhibition ‘Rembrandt revealed’ wins top prize for Research and Understanding at this year’s National Trust’s Visitor Experience Awards.

The exhibition, open daily at the National Trust property near Yelverton, gives visitors the opportunity to discover how the £30 million self-portrait of the Dutch master was verified and tells the story of how a series of experts managed to uncover the truth about the painting.

Speaking about the property’s success, James Breslin, House and Visitor Experience Manager at Buckland Abbey, said: ‘It was a real privilege to pick up this award on behalf of the project team who created a stunning exhibition telling the story of how we identified our painting as a genuine Rembrandt. We are glad we are able to conserve and protect this important self-portrait forever, for everyone to enjoy.’

Buckland Abbey, Garden and Estate and exhibition ‘Rembrandt revealed’ is open daily until 1 November. For a full list of events happening throughout the year, as well as visitor opening times, visit Buckland Abbey’s website, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/buckland.
