With its inspiring views and beautiful surroundings, Devon is undoubtedly a great source of inspiration to those who live here, including several of the UK's favourite artists, musicians and authors. Indeed, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to indulge their creative side in this stunning location." Currently, Broomhill Gardens is firmly establishing Devon on the national arts map, with its partnership with the Royal Society of Sculptors and an inaugural exhibition at the Broomhill Estate: 'In Harmony'.

This ambitious initiative. featuring some of the UK's leading sculptors and led by the curator Charles Powell, will be set within 5 acres of ancient woodland and water gardens. Each artwork will be surrounded by a bespoke planting scheme which embodies the ethos of their gardens -'Function in Form' - and complements the artwork's aesthetic and philosophies.

"We are thrilled to announce a partnership with the Royal Society of Sculptors with an exciting exhibition at the estate. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the artwork from immensely talented artists from around the whole UK, here in North Devon', said Charles.

The exhibition mirrors the owners' and curator’s passion for establishing and encouraging more natural gardens. All the plants that were selected in the process had to check two of the following criteria:

  • Be Edible
  • Have Medicinal/Herbal Purpose
  • Support Biodiversity.

Broomhill Estate is set within the UNESCO biosphere of North Devon. They have partnered as a business with the conservational body and pledge to support the natural environment in every way possible. They pride themselves on creating a harmony between the human and the natural world and endeavour to prove the two can achieve symbiosis.

They have over 150 sculptures on exhibit throughout the gardens at one time. Apart from its famous Sculpture Gardens, the Broomhill Estate is a sanctuary for contemporary art and is also home to an Art Hotel and offers various performance, film, dining events and workshop experiences.

The 'In Harmony' exhibition will be open daily from Saturday 11th June until Monday 30th September. To view the exhibition and book the tickets online, visit: https://broomhill-estate.com/.
